Anaheim runs on tourism. The Disneyland Resort, the city's dominant employer with roughly 36,000 cast members, drives about $8.5 billion in annual regional economic activity and supports an estimated 78,000 jobs across Southern California, according to a California State University, Fullerton study. The resort alone generates an estimated $255 million in taxes each year, and the surrounding Anaheim Resort district holds Orange County's three largest hotels by room count, all inside the city: the 1,574-room Hilton Anaheim, the Anaheim Marriott, and the Disneyland Hotel. Every one of those operators runs reservations, guest service, ticketing, and back-office workflows at enormous, seasonal, multilingual volume.

Conventions and sports add two more high-volume engines. The Anaheim Convention Center is the largest exhibit facility on the West Coast, with roughly 1.8 million square feet of function space after a $190 million expansion completed in 2017, and Visit Anaheim booked 150 conventions, meetings, and events for 2023 projected at more than $1.4 billion in economic impact. A few minutes east, the Platinum Triangle holds Angel Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Angels, and the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks, both pushing game-day ticketing, concession, and customer-service demand. All of this transaction volume runs under strict card-data-security rules, and California's SB-1001 requires every customer-facing bot to disclose that it is not human.

Beyond the visitor economy, Anaheim carries one of the deepest industrial and healthcare bases in Orange County. The Anaheim Canyon district covers about 2,500 acres, the largest industrial area in the county, with almost 3,000 companies and roughly 72,000 jobs, including aerospace and defense manufacturer L3Harris, circuit-board maker TTM Technologies, and aerostructures firm Ducommun. Healthcare runs alongside it: Kaiser Permanente's Anaheim medical center, AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center, and West Anaheim Medical Center together employ thousands and move patient access, scheduling, and records work under HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act.

Anaheim organisations putting AI to work on guest service, convention and event logistics, PCI-compliant ticketing and payments, HIPAA-aligned patient access, and manufacturing back-office automation are pulling ahead of peers still doing it by hand. The workforce fed by Cal State Fullerton, Hope International University's Anaheim campus, and the North Orange County community colleges gives the city real depth to put production AI to work, and the California Privacy Protection Agency's expanding CCPA and CPRA rules make building compliance in from day one the smart move.
