Modesto sits on the State Route 99 freight spine, roughly 90 miles from the Bay Area and midway to the southern Valley, which has pulled warehousing, cold storage, and third-party logistics into the corridor and into nearby Salida and Patterson. The talent pipeline runs through Modesto Junior College and, 15 miles south in Turlock, California State University, Stanislaus.
