That mix creates relentless administrative drag. Health systems coordinate scheduling, referrals, and recall outreach across dozens of facilities under HIPAA. Hotels, attractions, and restaurants field seasonal surges of bookings, enquiries, and reviews that swamp front desks every winter. Contractors and real-estate firms rekey permits, bids, draws, and closing documents across disconnected systems. Apparel-retail and advisory operations, including Gartner’s large Fort Myers center, process orders, claims, and back-office paperwork by hand. The work is high volume, deadline driven, and seasonal.

Fort Myers firms adopting AI for patient access, guest and customer service, document processing, and seasonal-demand handling are pulling ahead of peers still running everything manually. The combination of the Florida Gulf Coast University talent pipeline, Florida’s lack of a state income tax, lower operating costs than South Florida, and a market that swings hard with the seasons makes southwest Florida one of the higher-leverage places in the country to put production AI to work.
