Vallejo is the largest city in Solano County, a waterfront community of about 126,000 on the north shore of San Pablo Bay in the San Francisco Bay Area's North Bay, connected to San Francisco by the San Francisco Bay Ferry. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, a 135-acre theme park off Interstate 80, employs roughly 1,660 and drives regional visitor demand, while Vallejo City Unified School District (about 2,160 staff) and the City of Vallejo anchor public employment. On Mare Island, redevelopment reporting cites roughly 110 businesses and about 5,000 jobs across 3.6 million square feet, including craft-beverage anchors Savage and Cooke (now Redwood Empire Distilling) and Mare Island Brewing Company, plus film and production users. Cal Poly Maritime Academy, the former California State University Maritime Academy now integrated into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, trains U.S. Coast Guard-licensed officers on the waterfront.

Vallejo firms deploying AI for healthcare patient access, public-sector and education document handling, hospitality and tourism customer service, beverage-production and supplier coordination, and small-business back-office work are pulling ahead of peers still running everything by hand. Real-estate costs well below the Bay Area core, a deeply diverse local talent base, and a ferry-connected location 30 miles from San Francisco make Vallejo a high-leverage place to put production AI to work under California compliance discipline.
