The Tesla Gigafactory in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center is adding around 3,000 jobs across a new battery-cell plant, a Semi factory, and an on-site data center, and the surrounding corridor has become one of the hottest data-center regions in the country, Switch’s Citadel campus alone is planned at 7.2 million square feet. In the north, Nevada Gold Mines (a Barrick/Newmont joint venture) is the world’s largest gold-mining complex, and Thacker Pass holds the largest measured lithium reserve on Earth, with a Phase 1 final investment decision reached in April 2025.
