Springfield is the largest city in western Massachusetts and the third largest in the state, with 154,888 residents on the Connecticut River at the crossroads of I-91 and the Mass Pike. MGM Springfield brought casino and hospitality operations downtown in 2018, Big Y World Class Market runs its grocery headquarters and 12,000-plus regional workforce from the city, and the education cluster spans Springfield College (the birthplace of basketball), Western New England University, and American International College. All of it sits inside the bi-state Knowledge Corridor, which carries more than 160,000 students across 32-plus institutions.

Springfield firms that automate claims intake, patient access, recordkeeping, and bilingual customer service are pulling ahead of peers still doing that work by hand. Massachusetts does not have a single comprehensive privacy act, but 201 CMR 17.00 and its Written Information Security Program requirement set one of the strictest data-security bars in the country, so every deployment here is built to that standard from day one.
