Columbus is Ohio's capital and its largest city, and the fastest-growing major metro in the Midwest: the region passed 2.2 million residents in 2024 on roughly $182 billion in annual GDP. Intel's Ohio One fab campus in New Albany is the largest economic-development project in Ohio history, and Google, Meta, AWS, and Microsoft have built data-center campuses across central Ohio. Add the retail-headquarters cluster (Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret & Co., Abercrombie & Fitch, Big Lots, Designer Brands) and the Rickenbacker inland port, and Columbus combines stable capital-city institutions with one of the fastest-growing tech and logistics footprints in the country.

Columbus firms deploying AI for insurance claims and underwriting, bank and payments operations, hospital patient access, government and university service desks, and retail and supply-chain workflows are pulling ahead of peers still running everything by hand. The talent base, a deep OSU and Battelle research pipeline plus a growing semiconductor workforce, makes Columbus one of the highest-leverage Midwest metros to deploy production AI under GLBA, HIPAA, and the Ohio Data Protection Act.
