Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest and most densely populated province, an island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence linked to New Brunswick by the 12.9-kilometre Confederation Bridge, with a population of about 178,600 in mid-2024. Agriculture and aerospace round out the base. Prince Edward Island grows about a quarter of Canada's potatoes, with Cavendish Farms in New Annan and McCain among the processors and potato farm cash receipts near CAD $380 million in 2024, over half of all provincial farm receipts. Aerospace and defence is the fastest-growing industrial sector and second-largest exporter, a roughly CAD $405 million a year business driving more than 1,300 jobs, anchored by StandardAero, Honeywell, MDS Coating Technologies, and Tronosjet at Slemon Park in Summerside. Tourism set records in 2024 with 1.71 million visitors and CAD $520.7 million in spending, and the lobster and mussel fisheries feed heavily export-oriented supply chains.
