Oklahoma's Fortune 500 companies post the highest profit per employee of any state.

Every one of these sectors burns thousands of staff hours on routine work that AI now handles: well-site, pipeline-integrity, and FERC-reporting records across the energy headquarters; ITAR-controlled documentation and supply-chain workflows across the Tinker, Fort Sill, and Tulsa aerospace base; grade tracking, recall outreach, and food-safety paperwork across the panhandle beef-and-pork belt; KYC, lending, and claims intake across BOK Financial, BancFirst, and American Fidelity; and back-office processing across the OKC and Tulsa professional-services cores. Oklahoma is also building the research and infrastructure to support it. The University of Oklahoma runs the nation's largest meteorology program and hosts the NSF AI Institute for Trustworthy AI in Weather, Climate and Coastal Oceanography, Oklahoma State is building AI and robotics capability in Stillwater, and Google announced a $9 billion cloud-and-AI investment in August 2025 to expand its Pryor data-center campus and build a new one in Stillwater. Cheap power, land, and a deep aerospace-and-energy talent base are turning the state into a national data-center destination.
