Microsoft has run data centers in the city since 2012 and was its number-one taxpayer in 2025; the Crusoe and Tallgrass Project Jade AI campus, approved in January 2026, will add 2.7 gigawatts of compute and power south of town; and the NSF NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center hosts national climate-science supercomputing. Union Pacific and BNSF both serve the Cheyenne Logistics Hub, with Walmart and Lowe’s distribution centers on the I-80 corridor. These are workloads that reward automation in document processing, infrastructure monitoring, citizen and customer service, and commodity-market intelligence.

Wyoming’s no-income-tax regime and number-one-ranked business tax climate mean more of an AI investment goes straight to return. Cheyenne organisations that adopt now, from state agencies and the defense base downtown to the data-center and ag operators at the edges of the county, are building the operating advantage that the next decade of capital and compute flooding into Laramie County will reward.
