Health IT and consumer brands round out the base. Kansas City is the historic home of Cerner, now Oracle Health, which made the metro a national electronic-health-record hub and left behind unusually deep clinical-data engineering talent. Hallmark Cards, the world largest greeting-card company, is headquartered at Crown Center, H&R Block runs tax services from downtown, and Garmin builds GPS and wearables from Olathe. Each of these sectors is buried in proposals, filings, regulated documentation, and customer communication that AI handles cleanly.

Kansas City firms deploying AI for engineering-proposal and submittal workflows, animal-health regulatory documentation, health-IT and patient-access support, and document-heavy back-office work are pulling ahead of peers still doing it by hand. As the second-largest US rail hub and the connection point of the CPKC single-line railway linking Canada, the US, and Mexico, the metro also runs enormous logistics volume. With deep engineering and health-data talent and a revitalizing downtown, Kansas City is one of the highest-leverage places in the country to deploy production AI now.
