Healthcare rounds out the base: Piedmont Columbus Regional runs a 583-bed Midtown hospital with the John B. Amos Cancer Center, the largest in west Georgia and east Alabama, alongside St. Francis-Emory Healthcare and the Mercer School of Medicine Columbus campus. The finance, payments, insurance, healthcare, and defense employers here all run document-heavy, regulated back offices, which is exactly the work AI automation removes, under HIPAA, GLBA, and the Georgia breach-notification law.

For Columbus businesses, the fastest-payback starting points are after-hours customer service for clinics and brokerages, claims and policy document processing for insurers, KYC and payments back-office workflows for the finance cluster, and recurring patient or member outreach across a large, frequently relocating military-connected population.
