But that volume creates relentless administrative drag. Freight forwarders and 3PLs key customs paperwork and bills of lading by hand. Aerospace and defense suppliers manage export-controlled documentation under ITAR. Memorial Health and St. Joseph/Candler coordinate patient access across dozens of facilities under HIPAA. Hotels and tour operators field 12.9 million visitors a year, and the Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart community drives seasonal, high-volume customer-service patterns. Each of these is a workflow AI can carry.

Savannah firms deploying AI for customs and freight document processing, aerospace and defense back-office automation, hospitality customer service, healthcare patient access, and logistics coordination are pulling ahead of peers still running everything by hand. The combination of a fast-growing manufacturing base, the SCAD and Georgia Southern Armstrong talent pool, and the port logistics ecosystem makes Coastal Georgia one of the highest-leverage mid-sized US metros to deploy production AI.
