Graz is the capital of Styria and the second-largest city in Austria, with about 307,900 residents and a wider functional urban area of roughly 660,000. Magna Steyr, AVL, and the supplier base run to IATF 16949 quality discipline; ams OSRAM and the Silicon Alps electronics base operate under EU dual-use export-control law; and every company answers to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSB) under the GDPR and the national DSG. The result is relentless documentation, traceability, and compliance work that drowns skilled engineering and operations teams.

Graz firms deploying AI for production-quality traceability, powertrain test-data processing, supplier and homologation document handling, green-tech operations, and clinical and administrative workflows are pulling ahead of peers still running everything by hand. A deep talent base, more than 60,000 students across four universities plus TU Graz's machine-learning and trusted-AI research, makes Graz one of the highest-leverage European metros to deploy production AI.
