Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and its largest city, with roughly a million residents. It is the seat of national government: the Knesset, the Supreme Court, most government ministries, the Bank of Israel head office, and the Israel Securities Authority all sit here, clustered around the Government Quarter at Kiryat HaLeom. Public administration is the city’s single largest employment base, and it runs on documents, correspondence, casework, and multi-department workflows that consume enormous staff time.

Alongside government, Jerusalem has built a serious technology and life-sciences economy. The Har Hotzvim hi-tech park anchors it: Intel has developed chips in the city since 1985, Mobileye is headquartered in the park at 13 Hartom Street, and Teva, Cisco (the former NDS), Radware, RAD, Medtronic, and Johnson and Johnson all operate there alongside roughly 100 smaller technology firms. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with about 23,000 students and 15 affiliated Nobel laureates, feeds a deep-tech and biotech pipeline through its Yissum technology-transfer company, whose spin-offs include Mobileye, OrCam, and BriefCam.

Health and tourism round out the base. The Hadassah Medical Center and Shaare Zedek Medical Center are among the city’s largest employers, with academic medicine tying the hospitals directly to Hebrew University research and Jerusalem’s 150-plus life-sciences startups. Tourism is the other pillar: Jerusalem is Israel’s most-visited city, recording about 2.39 million hotel overnight stays in 2022, some 34% of all foreign-visitor nights in the country, around the Old City and its historic sites.

Jerusalem organisations deploying AI for casework intake, records and correspondence processing, research and grants administration, patient-access and clinic scheduling, multilingual visitor and resident service, and biotech document workflows are pulling ahead of peers still doing this work by hand. The talent base is the advantage: Hebrew University graduates, Har Hotzvim engineers, and a workforce that operates day to day across Hebrew, Arabic, and English make Jerusalem a high-leverage place to put production AI to work.
