Corporacion Favorita, the largest retailer in Ecuador, is headquartered here and runs a nationwide Supermaxi, Megamaxi, and Aki network. The UNESCO-listed historic centre, among the first sites inscribed in 1978, plus the Mitad del Mundo and Galapagos gateway traffic through the five-star Mariscal Sucre International Airport, support a large hospitality and tour-operator base.

Quito firms deploying AI for bank and insurance onboarding, public-sector document and citizen-service workflows, oil-sector procurement and reporting, retail back office, and 24/7 tourism customer service are pulling ahead of peers still doing this work by hand. With USFQ, EPN, PUCE, and the Universidad Central supplying engineering and data talent, and a fintech scene that produced Ecuador first unicorn in Kushki, Quito is one of the highest-leverage cities in the country to deploy production AI.
