Seville is the capital of Andalusia and the largest city in southern Spain, with a municipal population of about 686,700 and an urban agglomeration of roughly 1.57 million. It generates the largest provincial GDP in Andalusia, on the order of EUR 32 billion, about a quarter of the region's output, led by services, industry, and a very large tourism economy. What sets Seville apart for automation is its concentration of high-value, regulated sectors: aerospace, export agri-food, renewable energy, and public administration.

Aerospace is the signature industry. Airbus Defence and Space runs its main Spanish military-aircraft site at San Pablo in Seville, home to the final assembly lines for the A400M military transport and the C295, and the city concentrates 105 of the 148 companies in the Andalusian aerospace cluster. The regional sector recorded EUR 2.914 billion in turnover and 15,496 direct jobs in 2024, with suppliers such as Aernnova, Aciturri, Alestis, AERTEC, and SENER, plus the CATEC research centre and the Aeropolis technology park.

Agri-food and energy add depth. Seville province leads Andalusia in table olives, and Agrosevilla is the world's largest table-olive producer and exporter, anchoring an export-heavy olive-oil and food economy bound by EU food-safety and protected-designation rules. The Seville area is also the birthplace of commercial concentrated solar power, with the PS10 and PS20 towers and the Solucar platform. Seville-headquartered engineering group Ayesa, the Junta de Andalucia regional government, and the Virgen del Rocio hospital complex round out a broad employer base.

Seville firms that automate aerospace document and traceability flows, agri-food export and quality paperwork, public-sector and healthcare correspondence, tourism customer service, and back-office engineering work are pulling ahead of peers still doing it by hand. With a 70,000-student university, a deep engineering talent pool, and a lower cost base than Madrid or Barcelona, Seville is one of the higher-leverage Spanish metros to deploy production AI under EU and Spain data residency.
